Building your own web site - STEP 1

  1. Write down the topic and audience for your site. What are the demographics of your audience (i.e. age, gender, interests, other important characteristics)?

  2. Go on line and find at least two sites that cover the same or a similar topic as the one you plan to design (list the sites). Evaluate the sites in terms of page layout, navigation, content, color scheme, typography (the arrangement of text on the page/screen), use of images, video, or animation. Discuss whether you feel the sites are well designed or poorly designed.

E-mail your instructor the answers to the questions above.

Weeks 2 and 3 - Unit B | Creating A Web Site

  • Research and plan the site
  • Plan the page layout
  • Create a web site
  • Create a web page
  • Set CSS options (additional information)
  • Add title, page description, and keywords
  • Manage web pages
  • Add a folder to the site
  • Change the site view

Building your own site - STEP 2

  1. Write down at least three goals for your site.

  2. Sketch a site map and page layout for your site.

  3. Create a web site and root folder in Expression Web (additional information).

  4. Create a new web page using one of the CSS layout options and save it as the home page.

  5. Add a title, description and key words to your home page.

  6. Create the additional pages you will need based on your site map.

E-mail your instructor the answers to #1 and #2. Items 3-6 will be viewed directly on the web.
