Expression Web Notes . . . page 2
Don't forget to compress photos for the web.
Right click on image and select picture tool bar to change attributes.
When opening a file or folder click on the icon not the file name . . . it just works better.
| Always save after a change and if you change the Master Style Sheet you will not only be asked to change each page but you will need to save any pages open in tabs (use File | Save All). |
To create a new item in the list in the sidebar hit CTR+Enter. You can also copy an existing tag in the list and paste in a new location and then change the name and hyperlink properties.
Sometimes when you are working in Expression Web and preview in browser you need to close, not minimize the browser preview or things just stop working when you go back to the design view.
When formatting Borders and Shading "select tag" not simply "tag contents."
Having trouble highlighting exactly what you want? Sometimes you can get everything but one letter? Anyway, hold down the shift key and use the arrow keys to highlight and you can get it exactly to the letter.
A very interesting anomaly with regard to the link to the home page in the navigation bars. On one site changing the file name from index.html to index.htm solved the problem (it should make no difference). On this site changing the file extension created a problem. I changed the tag (tag edit) for Home to say index.html on the master, then saved each page . . . this solved the problem on this site. It seems that when Expression Web publishes to i-PowerWeb there is a glitch when the home page file name is changed from "default" to "index."
Pay attention to the fact that when you are working with Manage Styles you are working with the dynamic web template. When you are working in Apply Styles you are working with one of the cascading style sheets.
