You can check your grades on line at any time. You are always in touch with how you are doing in your course. You can make sure I received and graded an assignment; you can check your class standing at the end of the semester; and you can review any number of interesting statistics concerning your course.
I think you will find Grade Source user friendly. Take a few minutes and explore. You can view the site itself at any time whether or not you are currently taking a course on The Pillar. Go to: http://www.gradesource.com. To find one of my courses simply search under my name (Cicero) or a course prefix (CIS 1 for example). You will probably have better luck searching under my name rather than a course prefix. Unless you enter the prefix exactly as posted you may not find the course you are looking for. For example if you enter CIS1(no space) versus CIS 1 (space between the "s" and the "1") you will get a different course listing.

There one little idiosyncrasy . . . I post your scores as you turn in assignments. GradeSource does not give a true average until all assignments from all students are in. For example, let's say Ms. Jones turns in assignment "X" early and I grade it and post it. Let's say Ms. Jones is the only one who has turned in assignment "X"at this point. Well, Ms. Jones gets credit for the assignment and everybody else gets a "0." However, I feel it is important that you are able to tell if your assignment has been posted even though it makes a mess of the averages. All of this gets straightened out once all grades for all assignments are in! So, don't panic if your grade goes from an "A" to a "D" for no apparent reason . . . it simply means one or more people have completed assignments early and their scores have been posted. To calculate your TRUE average at any given point in the course simply add up your total points and divide by the total points possible FOR THE ASSIGNMENTS YOU HAVE COMPLETED.
Also, keep in mind that while you can always access the GradeSource web site you won't be able to check your grades until the first report is posted by me. That may be as long as three weeks into the semester. Your GradeSource "Secret Number" is the last four digits of your Shasta College Student ID#.
