Read the orientation to on-line classes, read it now if you have
not already done so -
orientation.
Send me an e-mail telling
me that you're registered, who you are, and your e-mail address - send it now
to cis81@ciceros-pillar.com.
Read all of the
information on the CIS 81 Home Page -
check all of the links.
Check out the on-line
schedule and
message board.
Go to
Cicero's Forum and
check out the discussion groups.
CHECK THE PILLAR SEVERAL
TIMES EACH WEEK FOR UPDATES.
Carefully read the housekeeping and assignment information below.
Housekeeping:
When you send assignments I
will reply with your grade and any comments. Typically comments will be brief.
Also the e-mails in general may be very short and to the point - do not take
offense. All of the chapter exams are on line at the
publisher's website - your biggest challenge will be to submit them to the
correct e-mail address (cis81@ciceros-pillar.com).
That may sound silly, but you would be amazed at the number of lost
assignments sent goodness knows where. :) Make sure you get the
address exact - e-mail accepts NO errors!!! So, let's look at that address:
(1) cis81@ - note
all lower case and no spaces;
(2) ciceros- - note that's
ciceros with a dash and no spaces; and (3)
pillar.com - note how pillar
is spelled, lower case and no spaces!!! Got it? Trust me, you'll probably
mess it up anyway. (lol)
All assignments in the
schedule show a due date - that is the last date assignments will be
accepted. You may turn in all work in advance (except for the threaded
discussions, if applicable, which may be posted at specific intervals).
Late work is not
accepted without prior arrangement.
Check for live links
throughout the schedule. Text
in light blue
and underlined is usually a clue that the link is there.
The link may also be a graphic
or a hover button
- . For text and graphics the mouse pointer changes to the "cyber hand"
and for hover buttons the mouse pointer does not change. A single left mouse
click will activate the links.
The class content is built around the text, review of ten web sites, and development of your own site (3 pages for CIS 81). There are guidelines for these assignments linked to the Main Page and the Schedule.
Assignment Information:
Assignments and due dates
are posted on the daily schedule.
You will also find appropriate links on the daily schedule explaining assignment formats where necessary.
