It is essential that you keep a copy of all of your assignments. Once an assignment is graded and entered in Grade Source it is deleted from my computer. If there is a question about any grade you will need to re-submit your work.

We are no longer using the publisher's site for testing. GradeSource. Grades, testing, and e-mail is now available at http://lms.shastacollege.edu. You may have received an e-mail from the college explaining how to log in. We will go over this in detail in class.

WEEK 2 - January 21 (Monday, 1/21 is a holiday)
  • Read Chapter 1, "Our Digital World," in Fuller text - pp. 3-33
  • Go to the "Testing Center | On-Line Assessments" portion of the publisher's web site and click on "Chapter 1" if you want to review the Practice Quiz.
  • You will be instructed to download the shockwave player. It is free software and it is a "safe" download.
  • Click on screen as directed, then on "Practice Quiz."

We are no longer using the publisher's site for testing. Grades, testing, and e-mail is now available at http://lms.shastacollege.edu. You may have received an e-mail from the college explaining how to log in. We will go over this in detail in class. If you need extra time to complete the first quiz, not a problem.

  • No written assignment for windows or buying a PC - the windows information is critical to your success in this class even though there is no written assignment

WEEK 5 - February 11
  • Read Special Feature, "Computer Ethics," in Fuller text - pp. E-1 - E-8 (back of text)
    • Go to the "Computer Lab | Chapter 1 Exercises" portion of the publisher's web site and click on "Ethical Dilemmas." Work in teams of 3-5 persons and answer the question asked - print your answer and turn in (make sure each team member's name is included on the print out). If you are not in class the day this assignment is completed, go to the on-line class schedule and follow the instructions.

  • Read Tech Demos for Chapter 1 on Fuller text CD - go to "Book Resources | Tech Demos." There are six brief lectures dealing with computer history and digital information.


You can review Windows and Internet Explorer by completing pp. Windows 4-16 and pp. Explorer 4-16 in the Rutkosky text.

WEEK 18 - May 19 (Final Exam Week)
 
  • The final examination will be available approximately one week before the due date. The exam is comprehensive (covering all materials in both texts). It is a 50-question multiple choice exam. Each question is worth two points for 100 possible points.

 

The Final Assessment is due Tuesday, May 20.
